Forschung / Research

We´re excited for the upcoming

ISOEN2024International Symposium on Olfaction and Electronic Nose – ISOEN 2024

in Grapevine, Texas, from 12th to 15th of May 2024

LMT will present three talks in the conference program:

  • Dennis Arendes: Transfer Learning Between Two Different Datasets of MOS Gas Sensors
  • Oliver Brieger: Advancements in Drug Monitoring: A GC-MOS Approach for Propofol Measurement
  • Christian Bur: Monitoring of Propofol in an Ex Vivo Lung Model

Furthermore, Andreas Schütze was invited to give the opening keynote:

  • High performance gas measurement systems – bridging the gap between sensors and analytics

Special Issue "Smart Sensor Systems for Detection of Volatile Organic Compounds"

Dr. Christian Bur, U Saarland, Lab for Measurement Technology, and Dr. Carmen Bax, Politechnico di Milano, are guest editos for this special issue of the journal SENSORS (ISSN 1424-8220). This special issue belongs to the section "Chemical Sensors".

Contributions are sought in the fields:

  • chemical sensors/biosensors
  • system design
  • sample collection, handling and preparation
  • field studies of VOC detection in various applications, such as the following:
    • biomedical: disease detection and drug monitoring
    • environmental monitoring: outdoor and indoor
    • food quality: freshness of food and spoilage detection
    • quality assurance: e.g., monitoring recycling processes
    • odour assessment and comparison with human olfaction
  • smart materials
  • calibration and transfer of calibration strategies
  • signal processing, including classical machine and deep learning approaches

See the full scope of the special issue on the journal website.

Deadline for manuscript submissions: 14 June 2024

ISOEN2022 best paper awardChristian Bur received 2nd place Best Oral Award at Healthy Buildings 2023 for our joint contribution with 3S:

C. Schultealbert, T. Baur, M. Leidinger, T. Conrad, J. Amann, C. Bur, A. Schütze:

Do Alcohols dominate the VOC measurement of low-cost sensors?

Congratulations on this outstanding achievement and recognition for gaining a better understanding of Indoor Air Quality measurements with low-cost sensors!

Christian presented the paper on behalf of Caroline Schultealbert who recently gave birth to her first child - congratulations!

The IEEE I2MTC – International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference – is the flagship conference of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society and is dedicated to advances in measurement methodologies, measurement systems, instrumentation and sensors in all areas of science and technology.

Prof. Schütze will give a

keynote talk on "High performance gas measurement systems based on microsensors"

in track 3 "Micro/Nano Engineering for Physical and Chemical Applications" at this years MNE EUROSENSORS conference in Leuven, September 20.

Micro and Nano Engineering (MNE) is the core international conference focusing on micro- and nano-fabrication, manufacturing techniques, as well as applications of the fabricated micro/nanostructures, devices and microsystems into electronics, photonics, energy, environment, chemistry and life sciences. In September 2022, MNE is jointly organized with Eurosensors, leading to an exceptional event tagged as MNE-EUROSENSORS 2022. The conference will be held in beautiful Leuven, close to Brussels, in Belgium.
